Summary
This report summarizes proceedings of a virtual peer exchange sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and hosted by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) on August 10-11, 2021. The purpose of the peer exchange was to discuss ways to enhance processes and software capabilities in the management of the electronic Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (e-STIP). The event provided an opportunity for State departments of transportation across the U.S. to share experiences, lessons learned, successes, and challenges related to the topic. Specifically, participants discussed methods of improving the effectiveness and transparency of the STIP process while remaining dynamic and helping reduce State risks while meeting Federal requirements. The event was sponsored by FHWA through its Transportation Planning Capacity Building Program.
