Aug 24 - 28, 2019  GHSA  Governors Highway Safety Association’s Imagine the Future: Advancing Traffic Safety through Technology and Innovation  - The traffic safety landscape is rapidly evolving, presenting both challenges and opportunities to reach zero traffic deaths. Sessions at this event will consider how states and their partners can harness the potential of technological advancements and engage innovative strategies to reduce crash injuries and fatalities. Breakout workshops will examine hot topics in safety, including law enforcement engagement, alcohol- and drug-impaired driving, bicyclist and pedestrian safety, and autonomous vehicles. Aug 27, 2019  TRB  TRB Webinar: Practices and Marketing to Increase Rural Transit Ridership and Investment  -  The webinar features research from the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP)’s Project 20-65 Task 73: Best Practices And Marketing To Increase Rural Transit Ridership And Investment. The webinar will explore practices currently being used in transit agencies and state departments of transportation (DOTs) to increase ridership in rural areas. Attracting and maintaining ridership is a primary challenge facing rural transit systems. Alongside this concern is a parallel challenge to find a way to invest in transit strategies that strengthens return on investment. Presenters will provide an overview of the research conducted, discuss practices for rural transit agencies and state DOTs, and identify how to measure the return on investment.

Sep 10 - 13, 2019  TRB  6th International Conference on Women’s Issues in Transportation (WIiT 2019)  - This conference explores women’s perspectives, challenges, achievements, and opportunities with respect to travel and transportation. Session tracks include women’s travel behavior patterns; transportation planning and policy processes to consider women’s issues; women’s safety, personal security, and health considerations in transportation; and women and emerging transportation technologies. The conference provides an update on the progress and challenges in relation to women and mobility; explores how gender equality practices in transportation are increasing business and economics development; exchanges ideas on how public agencies can incorporate good gender equality policies and practices with approaches to oversee efforts and measure performance; and examines methods to address safety and security of women who are employed with or using transportation systems. Sep 15 - 18, 2019  TRB  Performance and Data in Transportation Decision Making  - TRB, in partnership with AASHTO and AMPO, is sponsoring a conference on the use of data to inform decisions in transportation planning and management. The conference will specifically address the methods and practice of using performance indicators and measures data driven decision-making in planning, programming and systems management to assist agencies grappling with newly adopted federal requirements for performance based decision making in planning, asset management and other areas. The conference will draw practitioners and research professionals from a wide array of backgrounds and organizations to explore the methods and practice of data-driven decision-making in an interactive and engaging forum.  Event  Atlanta 
Sep 22 - 26, 2019  TRB  2019 International Conference on Ecology and Transportation (ICOET)  - TRB is cosponsoring the 2019 International Conference on Ecology and Transportation on September 22-26, 2019 in Sacramento, California. The conference is designed to explore the broad range of ecological issues related to transportation systems in the areas of development, policy, and administration as a means to help enhance project development processes and the ecological sustainability of transportation systems. Sep 22 - 26, 2019  Caltrans  Road Ecology Center’s International Conference on Ecology and Transportation  - The tenth biennial ICOET conference is hosted by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and California Department of Fish and Wildlife with support from FHWA. ICOET is an interdisciplinary, inter-agency supported conference addressing the broad range of ecological issues related to transportation systems in all modes.The conference is organized by the Road Ecology Center (UC Davis), with assistance from the UC Davis Institute of Transportation Studies and the National Center for Sustainable Transportation at UC Davis.  Event  Sacramento

Nov 6 - 7, 2019  Nevada DOT  Nevada DOT's 2019 Bicycle and Pedestrian Summit  - The purpose of this summit is to take a closer look at the importance of education and outreach strategies; better understand planning, engineering, construction, maintenance, mobility, safety and sustainability as they relate to non-drivers; explore innovative technology and emerging trends in non-motorized accommodation; and showcase new trends in adventure-tourism, trail system development, and community-based activism.
