Center for Urban Transportation Studies- University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee
The Center for Urban Transportation Studies (CUTS) at UWM is an interdisciplinary group of faculty and students who share a common interest in the various aspects of transportation. Among the issues studied at the center are urban mass transit, transportation management, land use, travel forecasting, alternative futures, technology transfer, private sector involvement in transportation, ride sharing, energy constraints on transportation, port operation and planning, railroad operations, environmental impacts, community impacts, and transportation planning.

Infrastructure Technology Institute (ITI)- Northwestern University
The Infrastructure Technology Institute (ITI) is a National University Transportation Center, which develops strategies and tools to protect and improve the condition, capacity, and performance of the nation’s highway, railroad, and mass-transit infrastructure systems. This mission is realized through research, education, technology transfer, and policy studies. ITI is supported through a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation under SAFETEA-LU.

The Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies (ITLS) is Australia's Key Centre of Excellence in Transport and Logistics Research and Education. ITLS undertakes graduate teaching, management development programs, grant and contract research and development in the fields of transport and logistics studies.

Intelligent Transportation Systems Research Program- University of Washington
A long list of ITS achievements has led to the establishment of an Intelligent Transportation Systems Research Program in the College of Engineering at the University of Washington. This program is a multi-disciplinary effort between the Departments of Electrical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Technical Communication. Research efforts focus on the application of computer and communications technologies to solving transportation problems. The ITS research program actively collaborates with government and industry, making it a regional resource for advanced answers to transportation issues.

Kiewit Center for Infrastructure and Transportation at Oregon State University
The Kiewit Center for Infrastructure and Transportation was initially established in 1962 as the Transportation Research Institute. The Kiewit Center serves as the umbrella organization for almost all research within the School of Civil and Construction Engineering. In addition to conducting funded and unfunded research, the Center provides a variety of outreach activities to support practicing professionals throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Long Range Transportation Plan Public Database
The information in the state plan database is based on the Volpe team’s review of 51 state long-range transportation plans from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. An accompanying report (to be posted when available) provides analysis from the review and summarizes detailed findings. A nine-member project advisory group advised the research team on priority topics of interest for the review of statewide long-range transportation plans. The advisory group included representatives of the Transportation Research Board’s Statewide Multimodal Planning Committee, other State DOTs, and representatives of stakeholder organizations.

State Long Range Transportation Database
The searchable database contains information from a review of long-range transportation plans from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The database presents information on how individual state plans address ten different transportation planning topics. The accompanying report provides analysis from the review and summarizes detailed findings on eight topics: 1) plan types, 2) implementation, 3) guiding principles, strategies, and objectives, 4) performance measures, 5) financial planning and analysis, 6) systems planning, 7) livability and sustainability, and 8) climate change.

Technology Transfer Program (TTP) at the Institute of Transportation Studies- University of California
The Technology Transfer Program provides training, workshops, conferences, technical assistance and information resources in the transportation-related areas of planning and policy, traffic engineering, project development, infrastructure design and maintenance, safety, environmental issues, railroad and aviation. Programs and services are affordable and often free, with subsidies for California-based public employees.

Texas Transportation Institute
TTI's program of practical, applied research helps hundreds of sponsors address a range of transportation challenges. The Center for Transportation Studies- University of Minnesota
CTS was created in 1987 to address the need for closer cooperation between University faculty and state and federal departments of transportation, and to strengthen the University's role in transportation research and education. CTS is a nationally prominent center that attracts more than $22 million annually for research, education, and outreach programs. The Center works with more than 75 faculty from 25 different departments in seven colleges—a spectrum of disciplines including engineering, planning, economics, public policy, computer science, human factors, and environmental studies.

CITE is an organization of universities and industry associations focused on providing comprehensive advanced transportation training through five types of on-line courses: independent study, blended courses, certificates, full semester program, and courses in Spanish.

The Council of University Transportation Centers (CUTU)
The CUTC provides information for research, education and training opportunities. The Council of University Transportation Centers (CUTC) was established in 1979 by the major transportation research centers and institutes in the United States. CUTC is a Tennessee not-for-profit corporation and a recognized IRS 501C(3) organization. CUTC promotes continued dialogue among its member institutions, and it provides a forum for the centers to interact collectively with government and industry.

The National Transportation Center (NTC) at Morgan State University is located in Baltimore, Md. Transportation Research Center (TRC)-- University of Florida
The Florida Board of Regents established the University of Florida Transportation Research Center (TRC) in October 1972 to provide a central point through which transportation research may be developed, performed and reported. Located in the College of Engineering, the TRC works with a number of other academic units throughout the college and the university.

Transportation Research Center- University of Nevada, Las Vegas
The mission of the TRC is to promote and conduct transportation research, educational, and outreach activities. The goals of the Transportation Research Center are to develop and maintain a Nevada-based center for multi-modal transportation research and policy analysis; educate and prepare students for careers in transportation; and provide extension and outreach services to public and private sector organizations.

University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute

The Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute (UGPTI) is an independent center at North Dakota State University which is guided, in part, by an advisory council composed of representatives of various organizations industries and agencies affecting or affected by transportation. The Institute’s mission is to educate people, conduct research, and provide outreach in the areas of small urban and rural transportation and logistics to enhance the mobility of people, goods, and agricultural commodities.

Urban Transportation Center- University of Illinois, Chicago
The Urban Transportation Center at UIC is dedicated to conducting research and education and providing technical assistance on urban transportation planning, policy, operations and management. We specialize in three core clusters of transportation research: disadvantaged populations and human sustainability, Intelligent Transportation Systems, and public transportation, highways and freight planning, operations and management.
